Professional Days in Drafting Begin
Drafting & 3D Design instituted “Professional Days” a couple of years ago in order to set aside some time for his students to hear from other professionals engaged in the architectural and engineering realm.
Their first Professional Day for this school year welcomed two guests – KT Walker and John Bordeau to introduce students to the life that lays ahead of them in both a school and workplace setting.
KT Walker is a 2011 Alumna of KACC’s Drafting +3D Design program. She earned her Bachelor degree in Architecture at SIU, and then went to work for an International company which supplies door hardware for institutional projects. Ms. Walker spoke about the aspects of choosing a college, the costs and ways to pay for school. She also talked about the importance of working hard and to be networking in order to secure a good job following college.
John Bordeau is the Coordinator of the Computer Graphic Technology program at Kankakee Community College. He has also been an instructor at KCC for many years. The Computer Graphic program at KCC offers degrees in technical drafting as well as graphic arts. Many of his students enrolled at KACC this year are “on track to study these topics at the college level.” This program can be a good next step and pertinent to their immediate futures. Professor Bordeau did a wonderful job of explaining the various options and opportunities students gain by starting in KACC’s Drafting +3D Design program.
KACC is grateful for the continued involvement of both Ms. Walker and Mr. Bordeau,” as they are consistent supporters of KACC and the KARVES Advisory Board meetings in Fall and Spring.
Thank you both for your contributions to our program!
