Jami Meredith
Jami Meredith may be one of the new kids on the block here at KACC, but she is not new to education or to healthcare. Her background in both these areas made her the perfect choice for serving as a Teacher’s Assistant for our Medical Terminology/Basic Health Skills program.
Her broad span of experience goes beyond education and healthcare. It also includes having served in the U.S. Army for eight years as an HVAC mechanic. Once she finished her tour of duty, Ms. Meredith attended Kankakee Community College where she earned her Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification. Once she had her C.N.A., she went to work with the Manteno Veteran’s Home in Manteno. She worked there for five years. She says she “Loved working in the medical field.”
Ms. Meredith also worked for Manteno School District 5 as a Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant). Now that she is back in the classroom, she says she is “especially happy because I love working with the students. It is rewarding and makes me feel like I am making a difference in their lives.”
Her time in the classroom has “rekindled” her belief that education is one of the most important cornerstones to making a productive employee. She has shared that one of her main goals is to be a good role model and help these young students develop good business morals and positive work habits. She knows the value of both soft skills and technical skills.
Mrs. Meredith, known as Mrs. Jami in the classroom, says she enjoys seeing the students’ smiles when she greets them entering the classroom. She says she hopes she can help them learn not only to be a better person, but also a great employee, no matter what field they choose. She should know – Ms. Jami is actually an alum from KACC’s Computer Technology program. It shows in her diligence and attention to detail and what a quick learner she is in utilizing our software programs.
So far, Ms. Jami says her time here at KACC has been “rewarding and enjoyable.” She says that the faculty has been helpful and friendly, making KACC an “awesome place to work.”
We’re glad she says she looks forward to her future here at KACC, because we look forward to continuing to work with her too!
