Mellinda Mattox, R.N.
C.N.A. (Certified Nurse Assistant) Instructor
Melinda Mattox joined #TeamKACC in August of 2018. Not only is Ms. Mattox an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) and Quality Improvement Professional, she brings a wide variety of experience in the healthcare setting to our program.
Initially, Ms. Mattox worked as a Clinical Supervisor alongside the C.N.A. Instructors, eventually accepting the position as a faculty member as a C.N.A. Instructor in August of 2019. Her experience with KACC, the Manteno Veterans Home and IDPH curriculum requirements for students to be eligible to take their CNA are clearly fabulous enhancements for our program.
Like many people, Ms. Mattox did not initially go directly into her chosen profession. Following her graduation from BBCHS, she entered Illinois School of Electrology in Frankfort where she earned her license.
It was in 2008 when her career in healthcare really went full-steam ahead. She earned her RN at Kankakee Community College. A true life-long learner, like many in the healthcare profession, she earned her certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality through the National Association for Healthcare Quality in Chicago. She then continued through the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses to become a Stroke Certified Registered Nurse.
Professionally, Ms. Mattox has served as a Stroke Team Improvement leader, as was a member of a Data Scene Investigator team, Magnet Council Quality & Safety Committee, and was a Peer Review Evaluator.
She has given back to her profession by being a program presenter and tutor within the healthcare realm.
Ms. Mattox, a long-time resident of the tri-city area, currently lives in Kankakee. She has three grown children: Keith, who works in construction, Luke who is a registered Nurse and Tabitha, who is just completing her teaching degree at ONU.
Ms. Mattox says she “Loves the sun, summer walks, bicycle riding, gardening and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”
Working at KACC allows her to continue working to fulfill the “mission of compassionate patient care and evidenced based education.” She is an energetic, highly skilled member of the C.N.A. Training Program.
