Law Enforcement Program Information

The Kankakee Area Career Center's Law Enforcement program allows students to develop their knowledge in various areas relating to law enforcement careers. Donald Barber, a retired Police Officer from the Village of Bradley, introduces students to patrolling, field operations, observations and perceptions, communications, reporting, and records.

The two-year Career Center Law Enforcement Program provides students with a basic introduction to all facets of law enforcement. Students experience:

  • Simulations
  • Demonstrations
  • Guest lectures
  • Preparing and giving a speech
  • Tours of various law enforcement departments
  • Shadowing program - Kankakee County Sheriff's Police and local police departments

Law Enforcement College Credits*

KACC's Law Enforcement curriculum has been designed to include college-level material each year. Students completing two years in this program can earn credits at either Kankakee Community College or Prairie State College.

  • LAWF-1513-7D0: Intro to Criminal Justice - 3 Credit Hours
  • LAWF-1713-7D0: Basic Criminal Law - 3 Credit Hours
  • LAWF-2723-7D0: Intro to Corrections - 3 Credit Hours
  • LAWF-2733-7D0: Private Security - 3 Credit Hours

  • Basic Defense Tactics Certificate
