Josh Martin, more than Law Enforcement
Josh Martin is a fine example of taking a wonderful career to the classroom. Mr. Martin joined Team KACC in August of 2014. Not only did he have 30 years of experience as a police officer in the Village of Bradley, Mr. Martin also had experience in education working with the Kankakee Area Special Education Cooperative as a full-time classroom aide and then as a substitute.
Mr. Martin joined KACC the very same year his former co-worker and police officer, Don Barber, came to KACC as instructor of the Law Enforcement Program.
Mr. Martin and Barber work hand-in-hand to consistently bring new opportunities into the standard curriculum. They work well as a team and support each other and their students.
Mr. Martin earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Eastern Illinois University. Prior to that, he attended Kankakee Community College – where he earned his Associates in Liberal Arts – not typically associated with moving into the realm of Law Enforcement, but serves him well in his communication skills with students to ensure a clear understanding of their curriculum.
Mr. Martin is known throughout the building for having a unique sense of humor. He is dry and, at times sarcastic, creating many opportunities for making fellow faculty and staff to have a laugh during the day.
Mr. Martin and his wife, Kim, have three grown sons and loves to take retreats to Wisconsin.
