Fire-Rescue & EMT Program Information

KACC's Fire-Rescue & Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) program teaches students about fire and emergency medical response practices and procedures, as well as the skills necessary to be prepared to provide primary emergency care at the scene of an accident or illness and to stabilize and transport the victim to a facility providing emergency medical services.

The curriculum will focus on the objectives of the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Division of Personnel Standards Education for Basic Firefighters.

This includes classroom instruction and extensive hands-on training sessions, including ropes and knots, fire hose, ladders, and self-contained breathing apparatus. Towards the end of the course, students will experience simulated fire conditions in a non-toxic smoke trailer.
